The Australian eCommerce market is projected to reach US$43 Bn in 2022 and is expected to grow by a CAGR of 14% to reach a market size of 70 Bn by 2025. Covid has propelled growth and a change in user behaviour. The usual suspects - electronics, food, fashion, beauty and furniture are the front runners contributing to this growth.
More than 30% have tried new brands, and more than 20% have tried new retailers, stores, and online shopping websites since the start of 2020. Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL) now contributes to around 10% of the payments.
Check out the projected ARPU growth. The toys category is on a tear.
Some key trends that we noticed include click and collect for all types of goods, including fashion, groceries and liquor. Sustainable and ethical shopping is at the forefront of Australian shoppers' minds.

🩲Scarlet has developed a range of offerings around what they call Period Gear. The company has developed period underwear made from sustainable cotton. Its products are cruelty-free, paraben-free and 100% vegan.
🪥Hi Smile has created home teeth whitening kits. The company has built a community of beauty bloggers, whitening enthusiasts (yep there’s something like that), and influencers. Today, it has a community of 3 million users. Products range from whitening strips and colour correctors to whitening powders and kits.
🧳July creates awesome luggage which makes your eyes pop. They build sustainable longer-lasting luggage that is cheaper than traditional prices. Even go as far as offering a 100-day trial and lifetime warranty! If it weren’t for the Omicron wave we’d be packing up our bags right about now.
